The Freya Project is an anti-racist organization.

These values are reflected in the community-based organizations we support and the readers whose voices we amplify.

However, as an organization led by white women, we acknowledge that our work does not end here. The work does not end, ever. There is always more we can do to further our commitment to intersectional feminism and anti-racism.

66% of the organizations that we support are BIPOC-led, and 56% of our readers identify as BIPOC. We are committed to upholding this ratio of support and representation. To that end, we have built an advisory board, a group that is 75% BIPOC. The advisory board will contribute to our event curation, and connect us to organizations and partnerships beyond our immediate community.

Moving into the future, we are working to expand our board of directors, and the next person we bring onto our board will be BIPOC. To make sure this person, our current BIPOC staff, and our advisory board are fully recognized and supported, we are working to combat the ways in which our organization may unintentionally and harmfully reflect white supremacy culture. We’ve also set an internal goal to ensure that our full team engages in comprehensive anti-racist training in 2021.

We believe, firmly and unequivocally, that Black lives matter.

Black words and activism has been at the vanguard of every social & political movement this country has ever seen. We look to Black leaders for their continued ingenuity and innovation, and strive to meet their work as engaged and informed allies.
