July 8th - August 6th, 2019
The Freya Project began with a single event on January 27, 2017 — an event that drew over 100 people and raised over four thousand dollars for La Frontera Fund: a non-profit in South Texas fighting for reproductive justice.
We realized then that the simple act of bringing people together to listen to the stories of women and non-binary people could act as a bridge between our community in New York and organizations across the United States working for human rights.
All of our work stems from our belief in voices of women and non-binary people. By sharing their stories, we can inspire support and activism for the organizations across the united states that need it the most.
To date, we’ve hosted 26 fundraising readings in 4 cities featuring over 100 readers. These events have raised more than $30,000 for organizations in need — but we have never once tried to raise money for ourselves. And that’s why we’re asking for your help today.
With your generous support, we will be able to:
Host more events in more cities, inspiring eager activists and connecting them with the organizations already doing the work
Support more women and non-binary writers with unrestricted grants, and offer resources to help them share their work widely
Inspire activism everywhere by transforming our website and communication channels into a resource with organizations to support, stories that inspire, and steps for everyday activism
Please support The Freya Project.
